Operations

Saga Capital hf. was established under the name of Saga Capital Investment Bank in the autumn of 2006 by a number of former staff of the Icelandic commercial banks. The bank completed a closed share offer in spring 2007 which resulted in approximately 60 shareholders.

At the end of April 2007, Saga Capital became a member of the Iceland Stock Exchange, NASDAQ OMX, with the stock symbol SGA. Our standard banking operation began in the summer of 2007 after the Financial Supervisory Authority granted us an operating licence as an investment bank. We celebrated our launch formally in August that year.

Our offices were in the beginning located in two exquisite old buildings rich in history. Our headquarters are in the Old Primary School, Hafnarstraeti 54 in Akureyri, a building that is over 100 years old. Corporate Finance, Capital Markets and the Investment Advisory were located in a converted old barn at Skogarhlid 22, Reykjavik.

By the end of 2010 the Reykjavik employees moved their base to the 14th floor of Hofdatorg, an office building with a fantastic 360° view of Reykjavik. At the same time the bank simplified its name by dropping the word Capital and became Saga Investment Bank.

By year-end 2010 Saga Capital along with two other investors, established a new company, T Plus. T Plus is a service company specialising in custody of securities, asset maintenance and settlement issues.
